International Blogging

The Architectural Association School of Architecture Supply Shop.->

At first I had a difficult time finding international blogs that were interesting to me. After looking through countless number of dead
ends, I found a good international blog out of London England. This blog is from the Architectural Association School of Architecture.

Seymour Papert

Seymour Papert has talked about children using computers in the classroom since the sixties. He has done many educational projects & research observing children write & "create graphics" on the computer. He is on the advisory board for the site MAMAMEDIA.COM. After reading this I became very interest in Mr. Papert because I used to play around on mamamedia.com. It is a very fun site that is just for kids! Check it out!!

He lives in Maine where he operates a small computer laboratory called the Learning Barn. He is working on developing methods of learning via computer that is way too advanced for present time.

VISIT MY PAGE!

^^^^Use the above link to visit my page.
The website that I created is about me & my family, my interest, & my plans for the future. I am through making improvments to my site but if I had more time & knowledge, I would like to make each page more colorful & unique. As of now, all of my pages are all the same color with the same color text. Nothing special. I definatly did the mimimum on this project because my time has been limited. I would also like to learn how to put some animations & sounds on each page. I believe it would make it more fun to look at. Check it out.

Megan Meeks Website Review

Megan Meeks blog was very neat & complete. All of buttons worked appropriately & there were no unwanted "red warnings". My only suggestion for improvement is that I would add some more text on the Australia page. Also, the index button should always be the first button on every page! That's the only major problem with your website! You know how particular Dr. Strange is! :)
Love the Mavericks pic!

Jennifer Jones' Website Review

I was assigned to review Jennifer Jones' website. I think that she did a very good job on her site. I can tell that she put a lot of time in to it. Heck--all of MY pages are the same color... & boring looking... but I can tell that she took the time to customize each page. Great Job!!:)

Using iPods in the Classroom!

This is an iPod!!

GROWING USE OF iPODS IN THE CLASSROOM! Duke University

^^^^^^^^I believe that we all must adapt to the growing changes in technology. The above site is by Duke University who have directly researched using iPods in education. Duke University gave away over 500 iPods which are capable of storing, not only music, but also books, video, pictures etc.

I personally love to use my iPod for more then just listening to music! The iTunes program, which is used for downloading music, movies, pictures, music videos etc, allows you to download all kinds of stuff. It may also be beneficial for children because they have programs you can download such as SCHOOL HOUSE ROCK (an educational television show that used to come on when I was younger that helped teach children all kinds of things in all subjects. Math, Science, Social Studies, & English!) Movies & television shows such as those on the discovery channel are available. Just about anything you can think of you can download to your iPod. iPods are verrrrrrrry beneficial.. & can be great as a teaching aid!!

Using spreadsheets in classroom instruction!

Using spreadsheets in the classroom is a great way to stay organized! It is also a very useful way to save time if you know how to use the program properly. Dr. Strange has shown us several ways in which spreadsheets can be useful, not only in the classroom but also when dealing with your personal financals. We have learned to make very organzied grade book. I think that learning to make the grade book has been my most favorite part of the spread sheets! Microsoft Excel is a wonderful, time-saving program that I will be using a lot in the future!

The following website is a great source for ideas of using spreadsheets and other useful technological advances which have resulted in the positive student achievement.

Mardi Gras

What did I do for Mardi Gras? Absolutely nothing. I stayed home & studied for a test that I had that week. I know.. what a geek. I did enjoy the day off from work though. I took a break from studying & went out for sushi with my sister. I also went to hobby lobby to get some things for scrap booking. That's about it. You?

Educational Blogging in the United States

Here is the link to an article of the benefits of using blogging in the classroom. I thought it was interesting. The writer supports the use of blogs saying "BLOGGING CAN INVITE STUDENTS TO NATURALLY EVALUATE THEIR OWN WORK AND THE WORK OF THEIR PEERS." I agree with this statement. I believe that students are interested in reading the imput of their peers. Reading the writing of classmates makes it more fun & interesting.Podcasting in the Classroom

Here is an article in which an avid blogger, Will Richardson, expresses his views on the benefits and outcomes of using blogging in the classroom. He has even used educational blogging in his classroom & has observed its positive influence.

What do you think about blogging?...

My blogging experience has been great although I am having a hard time finding the time in which to blog. I think that it is a great way to either keep an online journal or to share information with other people across the globe. I really enjoying sharing with others what is going on in my life. I enjoying reading what is going on in other peoples lives too.
Whether we realize it or not, most of us are blogging everyday on related sites such as facebook and myspace. With the expansion of technology, I do not see it out of the ordinary to see a child doing just that. Children are learning very young how to navigate the internet and use it to their advantage. Through blogging, teachers and students can communicate useful and important information. Likewise, parents can get more invovled with the teachers via web communication. I believe that blogging is an excellent way to corporate modern day technology into the curriculum.

Alrighty then.

Happy Thursday!
Well.. once again it is time to post & I have nothing really to say. I wish I was more interesting & had more to talk about. School & Work is pretty much it for me. Boring!
I would add a pic to this post but my "Pin Drive" is not wanting to cooperate.

Fifthteen of Jan

It is the 15th of January and yesterday, of course, was a holiday from school (MLK Day). I didn't get a holiday yesterday! All of my classes are scheduled on Tuesday & Thursday so it did not affect me one bit. I had to work all day yesterday which really stunk. Holiday? I think not. :/ haha

Bloggy-Pooh Numbero Uno

I am a first-timer to the whole blogging thing so this whole thing is new to me. I guess I am having a hard time keeping up with technology because as soon as I get the hang of one concept, something new comes knocking at my door.

I would like to wish everyone good luck for this semester.

Happy Blogging. :)
